A generous birthday donation to the Dietary Science Foundation

Three cheers for Monica and Jonas Brandström! In connection with their joint 70th birthday party they encouraged donations to the Dietary Science Foundation. Gifts totaled almost 3,000 Euros an important contribution to our current investment in a study on diet for type 2 diabetes.
“We’re pleased to give our support to the Dietary Science Foundation because you’re doing a great job,” said doctor and entrepreneur Jonas Brandström when we called the couple to thank them.
The Brandströms are the long-time proprietors of the conference and wellness center Öijared, near Gothenburg. Sustainability and health have been important concepts in the development of the area. A few years ago, they also acquired an old tannery in nearby Floda, where they will open a knowledge center on sustainability issues with a special focus on food, in collaboration with the local municipality, among others.
“We support sustainably and locally produced food. For example, we work with freshwater-based fish farming in closed systems and ways of supplying the city with local food, including rooftop vegetable gardens,” Jonas Brandström says.
The Brandströms celebrated their 70th birthdays with a big concert. The 150 guests were encouraged to donate money to the Dietary Science Foundation.
