Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome are major public health challenges. The Dietary Science Foundation is pleased to announce that we now have 150,000 euros available for one or more research projects evaluating the most effective dietary treatments for counteracting or preventing diseases related to metabolic syndrome.
Globally, the number of cases of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome is increasing at an alarming rate. Trailing behind these epidemics are a range of conditions and problems, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, dementia, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), complicated pregnancies and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. These conditions are causing people to die prematurely.
An unhealthy diet contributes to metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes, but there is no consensus about how best to treat these diseases. More high-quality scientific research needs to be done in this area.
To find out more about the most effective dietary treatments for metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes and related diseases/problems, the Dietary Science Foundation is now offering 150,000 euros to fund one or more projects in this field. We will prioritize projects that fill important knowledge gaps and are relevant to patients and society. In addition, projects should be designed to meet the standards for reviews of the current state of research according to organizations like Cochrane and the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU) .

Researchers from all the Nordic countries are welcome to submit an application. The deadline is the 31th of March, 2019.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has made donations to the Dietary Science Foundation. Your contributions make this announcement possible!
