Dietary treatments can most likely play a larger part in health care than they do today, but there are many gaps in our knowledge. The goal of conventional dietary guidelines has been to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. However, the food we eat affects many more parts of our biochemistry; e.g. our intestinal flora, blood sugar levels, insulin levels and the levels of certain growth factors and neurotransmitters. This in turn has the potential to affect the course of many diagnoses. Via the links below you can read about various health problems and a few of the gaps in knowledge the Dietary Research Foundation wants to fill.
